PERRY MASON AND THE CASE OF THE MANDARIN MURDER (Telarium)
----------------------------------------------------------
by Jacob Gunness

This is a very entertaining game. You star as the famous defense attourney who
has to save a young woman who apparently shot her husband. The case might seem
simple, but as you dig into it, you'll soon learn that there is indeed something
rotten in the state of Denmark :o)
Actually, getting Laura off the hook isn't too difficult. However, finding the
real killer *is* and will require a lot of work from you. In particular you have
to make sure you make the right objections when your opponent is at work.
The only letdown to the game is that in some respects it's much too easy, and in
some it's too difficult.
When your opponent is questioning a witness, it is too simple discovering when
to make an objection and when to shut up. Also, discovering what evidence to
confront the witnesses with isn't very difficult either. On the other
hand, the game is made difficult by the fact that it is quite difficult to find
the right way to express your questions.
If you get stuck on that account (you will!), you can always go for the
DELLA,TIP solution.
Don't let all this scare you - this is one heck of an intriguing game!

Exploring the apartment :
-------------------------
(Note that movement will be very restricted due to the overly eager Holcomb)
YES, YES, ANSWER PHONE (Laura has been arrested for murdering her husband), GO
TO APARTMENT, GO TO PEN, EXAMINE DOOR (there are blood marks on it), GO TO DEN,
EXAMINE BOOKSHELVES, EXAMINE BOOK (you find a letter), READ LETTER (Margot has
been dating Victor), EXAMINE PLANT, GET EARRING, GO TO LIVING ROOM, EXAMINE CARD
TABLE, GET DOCUMENT, READ DOCUMENT (Julian wanted to buy Victor's share of the
Argos), GO TO JAIL (you meet Paul), YES (he gives you a sheet of paper), GET
PAPER, PAUL,INVESTIGATE BLOOD IN PEN, GO TO PRISON, LISTEN * 4 (Laura tells her
that she's innocent), GO TO OFFICE (here you may read the files on all 8
witnesses - do that!), GO TO COURT

----save0"test1"----

In court:
---------
Paul should return shortly after Tragg has started and give you a BLOOD REPORT,
telling you that the blood in the pen is Victor's, not the dog's!
During the trial, you can (and should) use Paul to INVESTIGATE Burns, Miller,
Julian, Suzanne, and Margot - in that order. This will give you the following
info:
* Burns - has been arrested once
* Miller - was fired from his work. After that, just type DELLA, CALL MAGAZINE
and they'll give you a DEPOSITION saying that Miller deliberately gave the
  Argos a bad review.
* Julian - has all of his money from his wife
* Suzanne - her father runs a dog kennel. DELLA, CALL BARSTOW KENNEL will get
you a AFFIDAVIT saying that Victor and Suzanne were the only ones capable of
  handling the dog.
* Margot - there's no info on her at all. But if you make DELLA, CALL BRANNIGAN,
he'll tell you that Margot got very drunk on Friday night and stated that she
  hated Victor.

The questioning:
----------------
(unless otherwise noted, you just type "A" to keep listening). And type FROWN
once in a while after a good question to intimidate the witnesses. There's
really no need to ask either Dorset or Crossman, but it will give you more info.
With all the latter witnesses, you can tell youve done things right if they
wind up breaking down!
